Barcelona eye Spurs star as potential Coutinho alternative — Reports

Premier League clubs don't usually welcome international breaks so early in the season but, for Liverpool, they were happy with a two-week break.

The front page of Sport lays out the Alli to Barcelona story.

At this stage, it feels a little early for the 21-year-old to be thinking about making a move elsewhere.

The Liverpool star has today been named on the 30-man Ballon d'Or shortlist in recognition of his superb form over the last year.

They draw 0-0 with Bolivia in their penultimate qualifier in the South American section and they host Chile in their final fixture.

However, Liverpool stood firm and rebuffed their advances despite seeing several bids in excess of 100million euros land on the table. The report though, suggests that either of Angel Di Maria or Lucas Moura is likely to be offloaded to make room for the Brazilian, with Julian Draxler expected to be sold as well.

The Liverpool star was offered a chance to move to Paris before Psg actually signed Neymar last summer but now they could have a chance to play together in Paris, provided that Liverpool will allow Coutinho to leave.

Having both been born in 1992, Neymar and Coutinho are great friends, playing together at various age groups for Brazil.

Barcelona and PSG are ready to start a new war with Philippe Coutinho inbetween.

And the Spanish club have an advantage.

Having formed a fresh rivalry with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who snatched Coutinho's compatriot Neymar up during the period, completing a historic, world-record £198m transfer, Barca could find themselves embroiled in another bitter battle with the Ligue 1 side pretty soon.

Knowing the situation, PSG are hoping to impede Coutinho going to Barcelona in January.
